SEREMBAN - A meeting between Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim and members of the State Executive Council (exco) with Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja'afar at the Tuanku Ja'afar Royal Gallery here on Wednesday was forced to be cancelled.
According to sources, the cancellation was on the authorities' orders due to security factors.
The meet-and-greet and courtesy session had been scheduled to begin at 9am, but as of 10am the event had still not started.
Media personnel then rushed to the Royal Bintang Hotel, located not far from the Tuanku Ja'afar Royal Gallery, after being informed that the Menteri Besar and exco members were there.
It is understood that they gathered at the hotel to hold a meeting before heading to the Tuanku Ja'afar Royal Gallery.
However, upon arriving at the hotel, media personnel were not allowed to approach the meeting location, before being informed that Ismail had left about half an hour later.
Gemas assemblyman Ridzuan Ahmad, when met by reporters, only smiled when asked what had happened, before leaving the hotel.
Earlier, at the Tuanku Ja'afar Royal Gallery, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Awaludin Said and two assemblymen from Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional were seen arriving at the location.
Also seen arriving was the Undang Luak Jelebu Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, though he left shortly after.
It is understood that all four Undangs, including the one in dispute with Tunku Nadzaruddin, are currently at the Balai Kediaman Undang Luak Sungei Ujong.
