KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — A scheduled meeting between Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim, state executive councillors and Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar was cancelled this morning due to safety considerations.
A source told Berita Harian that the decision was made after authorities advised organisers to take into account the current situation and security factors.
“The meeting at a hotel was cancelled for safety reasons after receiving advice from the authorities,” the source said.
The session was originally planned to take place at the Tuanku Ja’afar Royal Gallery at 9am as an introductory meeting to strengthen ties between the Menteri Besar, the exco line‑up and Tunku Nadzaruddin.
The source said Ismail instead had breakfast with exco members and several government assemblymen earlier today.
“The Menteri Besar only had breakfast with the exco and several government assemblymen,” the source said.
Yesterday, media reports said Ismail and the exco were scheduled to have an audience with Tunku Nadzaruddin in a ceremony expected to be attended by the Undang Yang Empat, the Tunku Besar Tampin and Datuk Shahbandar Sungei Ujong.
The development comes amid heightened attention on Negeri Sembilan’s constitutional situation following Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir’s decision to revoke the appointments of all 10 exco members.
Ismail has maintained that his state executive council remains valid and will continue carrying out its duties as usual.
