PADANG TERAP – Pas may use its own party logo in the upcoming Melaka state election if Perikatan Nasional (PN) is unable to use the coalition’s logo.
Pas central election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the proposal had yet to be finalised and would be discussed at a party meeting next Monday.
He said the matter also took into account developments surrounding the status of the PN logo with the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
“I heard PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had filed a lawsuit against RoS, so we will wait for the decision. If there is no other choice, then we will use the Pas logo.
“People are no longer afraid of this logo. Even Mount Everest has the Pas logo now, people have taken it there,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after the Desa Sejahtera Perik House Ownership and Key Handover Ceremony in Mukim Kurong Hitam on Thursday.

Meanwhile, commenting on the formula for cooperation with Umno in facing the Melaka state election, Sanusi, who is also Kedah Menteri Besar, said Pas was considering two possible approaches based on the arrangements used in Johor or Negeri Sembilan.
He said any form of cooperation must fairly account for the sacrifices made by each party rather than favouring only one side.
“There are only two formulas, the Johor formula and the Negeri Sembilan formula. Those are the only two formulas.
“If the status quo (reciprocal arrangement) is maintained in Melaka, then the status quo should also be maintained elsewhere. That is fair and equitable.
“Whatever sacrifices you make, we will make the same sacrifices. If you want things to be unfair in our area, that would not be right, would it? My calculation is as simple as that. There is no need for tension; everyone should just get on with their respective work,” he said.
The decision on whether PN can use its coalition logo in the Melaka state election will depend on further developments with RoS.
Takiyuddin was previously reported as saying that the coalition was seeking a meeting with the RoS director-general and requesting clarification from the agency.
