Melaka’s 2023 budget to restore economy, fulfil promises: CM

MELAKA – The tabling of Melaka’s 2023 budget serves as a platform to restore the state’s economy and a reminder for its leaders to fulfil the promises made to the people.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said it was important now for all parties to set aside their differences and open up a new chapter for the benefit of the people.

“This is crucial, especially in the face of global challenges and economic uncertainties including the recession that is predicted to occur next year.

“So, like it or not, we don’t have much choice but to strengthen this unity government in order to face the challenging situation,” he said during the winding up of the state budget debate at the Melaka Legislative Assembly here today.

Sulaiman also said that the state budget’s tabling was historic as it was the first to receive the unanimous support of all assemblymen who attended the assembly sitting.

“I would like to thank all the assemblymen who participated (in the debate session) and showed a professional and mature attitude for the benefit of the people and the state,” he said. – Bernama, December 15, 2022
