MEMBAKUT: Membakut is now officially a full district following a launching ceremony officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at the Membakut District Office, here, Saturday.

State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif said the district covers Kimanis, Bongawan and Membakut which are under the Kimanis parliamentary constituency.

He said Membakut had been a sub-district for decades and its full district status was approved and gazetted on March 30 last year.

“We thank the Chief Minister (Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor) for fulfilling our aspiration to upgrade Membakut to a full district. Hopefully, with the full district status, Membakut can focus more on development, including administrative aspects such as establishment of the Membakut District Council (MDM), as well as government departments and agencies,” he said after the launch.
