
BEAUFORT: A 55-year-old man who suffered from mental illness was discovered dead after allegedly hanging himself in the bathroom of his home on Sunday.
The man has been identified as Matnor Osman from Kg Indumadi.
District Police Chief DSP Ismail Abdullah said they received a report about 5pm that the man’s family members brought him to hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Inspections at the scene revealed a dark green rope tied in a noose hanging from the bathroom ceiling’s wooden beam.

Ismail said that there were no signs of foul play detected at the scene.
Further inquiries revealed that the man had been undergoing treatment at the Mesra Bukit Padang Hospital in Kota Kinabalu for the past two years, visiting once a month.
The man, previously employed as a security guard in Papar, had not been working since experiencing mental disturbances two years ago.
For his treatment, he had been staying with his wife and two children at his in-laws’ residence in Kota Belud.
However, about 10 days prior, the man had returned alone to Kg Indumadi on his motorcycle for undisclosed reasons.
