MANILA Electric Co. (Meralco) on Tuesday said it had started the competitive selection process (CSP) for a 900-megawatt (MW) baseload power requirement.
Meralco invited power generation companies to submit expressions of interest by Oct. 15, 2026.
A pre-bid conference was scheduled for Nov. 6, while the bid submission deadline was set for Dec. 9, 2026.
The 15-year power supply agreements resulting from the bidding will cover the delivery of 600 megawatts’ supply by Feb. 26, 2031, and an additional 300 MW by Feb. 26, 2032, subject to approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission.
Baseload power is the minimum amount of electric power required by an electrical grid at any given time. Traditionally, coal, nuclear, or geothermal plants provide this kind of continuous power.
Meralco shares on Tuesday declined P17.80, or 4.09 percent, to close at P417.20 apiece.
