MANILA, Philippines — Meralco pulled off a much-needed victory following its 120-115 decision against Blackwater to bolster its PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup playoff hopes on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Import Jordon Varnado tallied 28 of his game-high 31 points in the last three periods as he helped the Bolts erect leads of as high as 20 points.
Blackwater managed to stage a comeback in the fourth period behind RK Ilagan, Kentrell Barkley and Sedrick Barefield.
But the Bossing fell short, allowing the Bolts to improve to 4-5, enough to seize fourth spot at Group B.
Blackwater dropped to 3-5, in a tie with Ginebra.
Barefield led Blackwater with 31 points, Barkley had 29 and 11 rebounds, while Ilagan 15.
