Netizens slam diners for leaving food trash and toy packaging at a restaurant table, sparking debate on etiquette and respect for staff.

A recent social media post has ignited a fierce online debate after a netizen called out a group of diners for leaving behind a significant mess at a restaurant table, including food waste and various items of opened toy packaging.

In the post, the user expressed their frustration over the lack of consideration, writing: “Do you guys think this is okay or not? Bringing a child to eat, opening toys at the restaurant, and then just leaving a huge mess of trash on the table like this?”

The netizen highlighted the additional labour imposed on the establishment’s employees.

“Now the staff have to deal with a big pile of toy packaging and clean it up. Don’t they feel guilty? Whatever the reason, for me, this is unacceptable,” the post read.

The story quickly gained traction, with thousands of netizens echoing similar sentiments and criticising the lack of basic dining etiquette and respect for hospitality workers.

Many pointed out that restaurant staff are not employed to clear personal refuse beyond standard food service items and that such behaviour adds an unnecessary burden to already busy service teams.

The incident has reignited a broader discussion about public responsibility, particularly in family settings.

“Unacceptable. [Staff] should stop the customer from leaving the store,” opined user azzurin.

“Common sense: whatever we bring from outside, we need to take back outside. Let’s make it a norm,” alkisaahanakpakusin commented.

“They think the service tax they pay includes having their trash cleaned up—even waste that did not come from the outlet. Might as well ask them to bring their trash from home too,” dxnix2side wrote sarcastically.

“How are you supposed to teach a child manners and common sense if the parents themselves are careless?” sakinahzulkipli1620 asked.
