Meta launches Muse, a personal AI agent that claims to manage your daily life

Meta has officially unveiled Muse, an ambitious personal AI agent that claims it can handle real world tasks.

Rather than simply answering questions like a standard chatbot, Meta promises Muse can actively take over your daily workload, from saving money and tracking health goals to buying items online and helping strengthen relationships.

It sounds interesting, though whether an AI can reliably manage such personal tasks without messing up remains to be seen.

How is Meta Muse supposed to work?

Meta says Muse operates inside its own isolated Linux virtual machine.

This environment comes equipped with dedicated storage, processor, memory, and a full web browser, allowing the AI to navigate web pages and execute desktop tasks much like a human would.

Users interact with it through the standalone Muse app or directly within WhatsApp.

While having an agent browse the web for you sounds convenient, automated web browsing often runs into captchas, broken layouts, and slow load times, so real world reliability will be the ultimate test.

Big privacy promises and security safeguards

Handing an AI agent full access to your life requires massive trust, especially given Meta’s mixed track record with user privacy.

To reassure users, Meta promises that Muse requires your explicit approval before taking real actions, such as sending emails or spending money, while maintaining a full audit log.

To protect sensitive logins, credentials sit in a secure vault with 1Password integration planned.

For online shopping, Muse generates temporary single use card numbers backed by Link purchase protection to keep real card details hidden.

Meta also claims that conversations with Muse will not feed into its targeted advertising systems, a promise privacy conscious users will certainly scrutinise.

App integration and bold claims on custom tools

Muse can connect directly with daily applications like email, calendar, and Instagram, with users setting strict permission limits on what the agent can see and do.

Over time, Meta claims the agent learns from past chats to offer proactive suggestions.

Most ambitiously, it asserts that if a task requires a tool that does not exist yet, Muse will write its own custom software code on the fly to finish the job.

Not available in Malaysia yet

For now, Meta’s new agent is strictly limited to United States residents aged 18 and above via the Muse.ai website.

We attempted to log in using a local Malaysian email address to test these bold features firsthand, but the platform immediately returned a message confirming the service is not available in Malaysia yet.
