Meta has introduced two new pairs of smart glasses at its Meta Connect event, including the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, its first model without a built-in camera. The company also unveiled the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, an updated version of its existing AI-powered smart glasses.
The Ray-Ban Meta Audio focuses on audio and AI features instead of photography and video. Without a built-in camera, the glasses could also appeal to users who are concerned about privacy when using camera-equipped smart glasses. Meta describes the model as combining some of the functions of wireless earbuds with its AI assistant in a pair of Ray-Ban frames, while still allowing users to hear their surroundings.

In terms of design, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio is Meta’s lightest and slimmest pair of smart glasses yet, weighing 43 grams. Users can listen to music and podcasts, take calls and interact with Meta AI hands-free. Meta says the glasses can provide up to 12 hours of use on a single charge, with the included charging case providing an additional 48 hours. There are 23 colour and lens combinations across two styles, Clubmaster and Burbank, with both supporting prescription lenses. Pre-orders are now open from USD349 (~RM1,427), with shipping starting on 13 October.

For users who still want a built-in camera, Meta also introduced the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3. The latest generation comes with a slimmer and more comfortable design, along with up to nine hours of battery life, which is around an hour longer than the Gen 2. It also gets a new customisable button for quick access to Meta AI, as well as a six-microphone array that Meta says can reduce more than 90% of background noise. For capturing photos and videos, the glasses retain a 12MP camera that supports video recording at up to 3K resolution.
The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is available in three frame styles: Aviator, the new cat-eye Zena and Wayfarer. Meta is also offering a limited-edition Aviator to mark the frame’s 90th anniversary. Prices for the Gen 3 start at USD449 (~RM1,832).

Beyond the two new models, Meta is expanding its overall smart glasses lineup. The company is bringing its new Muse personal AI agent to its glasses and plans to offer more than 100 glasses options across Ray-Ban, Oakley and its own Meta Glasses lineup by the end of the year.
As for Malaysia, both new models will launch in the US first. However, Meta has confirmed that Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Ray-Ban Meta Optics will be available in Malaysia later this year. Local pricing has yet to be announced, so the US prices currently serve only as a reference.
