MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) said the air quality in Metro Manila remained polluted as the Navotas Landfill fire continued to deteriorate the air quality.
In a statement, PhilSA reported that as of 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, its daily satellite monitoring showed that Metro Manila and surrounding areas were still experiencing elevated levels of air pollution.
The agency explained that its satellite images use color indicators to show concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), with darker red hues representing higher levels of pollution.
PhilSA noted, however, that its observations were limited to that time alone, as "NO₂ levels generally decrease throughout the day.”
