Mexico thrash Serbia 5-1 ahead of World Cup opener

World Cup co-hosts Mexico have completed their tune-up schedule for the tournament with a 5-1 thrashing of Serbia on Thursday evening.

The Serbian team took the lead through Petar Stanic, but goals from Johan Vásquez and an own goal from Stefan Bukinac gave Mexico the lead before the break.

Raul Jimenez, another own goal from Adem Advic and Luis Chavez completed the score in the second half.

Mexico are hosting the World Cup with the United States and Canada, and kick off the tournament against South Africa on June 11. In Group A, they also face the Czech Republic and South Korea.
