Once again, it was Benjamin Sesko who proved to be the difference maker for Manchester United, netting the second goal in a 2-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace.

United never seem to make it easy, and this win over Crystal Palace was no different.

Michael Carrick’s team had to come from behind, but they eventually found their rhythm and pulled off a 2-1 victory, which keeps their strong run going and has helped them climb into third place in the league.

While Bruno Fernandes stood out as the man of the match, once again, it was Sesko’s name on the scoresheet that made all the difference.

Sesko found the net for the seventh time in 2026 during the 2-1 win, and it was his fourth goal in five games, cementing his status as one of the league’s standout forwards right now.

Michael Carrick spoke highly of his striker after the match, acknowledging that Sesko has made strides forward since he took over as manager.

“I am very happy for Ben [Sesko]. He’s improved a lot; he’s getting used to playing for this club. He wants to succeed so badly”, Carrick said. “It’s a real pleasure to work with him. It was a fantastic goal. He brings so much to the team.”

He added that starting Sesko wasn’t much of a debate within the coaching staff, given his recent form.

“It’s not a gamble. It wasn’t that big of a decision. Benjamin is in a good place, and he has had a major impact in recent weeks. He’s learning what it feels like to play here, and to score the winner today is fantastic. We are here to help, and I’m sure that will continue. He is willing to do whatever that is”, Carrick explained.

There was some speculation over whether Sesko would get the nod against Palace, but Carrick gave him his chance, handing him a start in this new era.

It wasn’t his best performance overall, with United struggling to create chances for much of the game. But even so, he stepped up when it mattered most and scored what turned out to be the deciding goal.

After finding the net, Sesko looked more comfortable and confident on the pitch, linking up well with Fernandes during one promising move.

This display justified Carrick’s decision to start him and should keep him in the line-up for the upcoming match against Newcastle on Wednesday.

Sesko’s continued improvement suggests that he is turning into a valuable asset for United as the season goes on.
