For any WWE fan watching through The Attitude Era, June 28th, 1998 in Pittsburgh remains one of the major highlights of the period.
That night, Mankind (Mick Foley) and The Undertaker squared off inside Hell in a Cell and would put on a match that would stick in the hearts and minds of WWE fans past and present forever.
Foley’s multiple heavy bumps both off and through the cell were the highlight moments. But there was so much more to it, with thumbtacks, steel chairs, Undertaker’s broken foot and Foley losing teeth all part of a memorable night.
For many, this is THE greatest Hell in a Cell match of all time and over the last 30 years, WWE superstars have often attempted to match or outdo this duo.
Now, some 28 years to the day since the match happened, Foley has reminisced on the evening.

Many consider this the match that made Foley. While he had a solid career up until this point, it was this match at King of the Ring in 1998 that really cemented his spot as WWE’s biggest bump taker.
Sure enough, Foley would go on to take even more brutal bumps and bruises in the ensuing years.
Now, nearly 30 years on, Foley has posted on Facebook to reminisce on that very night in The Igloo.
“28 YEARS AGO TODAY! A night that the course of my career and life. One of the most incredible takeaways from that historic night is how many people who ask me about it, who were not even born when it took place! It’s a match that parents have handed down to their children.”
That comment from Foley there sums up everything about this match.
He is right, it’s one of the go-to spectacles for any older fan trying to get either their children or any younger fan into the product that is WWE.
And in what’s a brutal truth for anyone going inside the cell going forward, it will simply never be topped.
