Middlesbrough and West Brom pay tribute to police killed in A66 crash

  • Football fans at Middlesbrough FC paid tribute with applause to Cleveland Police constables Matthew Blades and Tom Clough, who were killed in a head-on crash on the A66.
  • The two constables and five other people died when a vehicle travelling the wrong way collided with them at South Bank last weekend.
  • The King sent letters of condolence to the families of Pc Blades and Pc Clough following the fatal collision.
  • Cleveland Police have arrested 24 people during a crackdown on alleged organised crime following a spate of recent incidents in the region.
  • Detectives confirmed that a separate house fire in Middlesbrough which killed a seven-year-old girl and her aunt is not linked to the A66 crash.
