GLOBAL SMART home appliance manufacturer Midea is expanding its retail footprint in Malaysia through a strategic partnership with 99 Speed Mart Sdn Bhd, enabling consumers to purchase its range of small home appliances at the country’s largest mini market chain from August 2026.

The collaboration was formalised with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Midea Malaysia and 99 Speed Mart, marking another milestone in Midea’s long-term growth strategy in the Malaysian market.

The agreement was signed by Midea Malaysia managing director Mark Tam, witnessed by Midea Group Asia Pacific president Zeal Jiang.

Representing 99 Speed Mart were chief operating officer Yong Eng Kwang and executive director and chief executive officer Lee Thiam Wah.

The partnership builds on Midea’s retail expansion following the opening of 18 Midea Brand Stores nationwide last year, strengthening the company’s distribution network alongside its authorised dealers.

Tam said the collaboration would make Midea’s latest home appliances more accessible to consumers across Malaysia.

“For consumers, the expanded retail network means easier access to Midea’s latest technologies, particularly home appliances such as blenders, electric kettles, rice cookers, fans, toasters, toaster ovens, vacuum cleaners and stoves.

“By partnering with 99 Speed Mart, Midea gains access to one of Malaysia’s most extensive retail networks, enabling the brand to reach more neighbourhoods and serve consumers where they live and shop, in line with 99 Speed Mart’s tagline, ‘Near n’ Save’.

“The move complements Midea’s existing brand stores and authorised dealer network, creating more touchpoints for customers to discover, experience and purchase its products,” he said.

Lee described the partnership as an important milestone for the retailer as it broadens its product offering beyond traditional convenience items.

“This partnership with Midea marks an important milestone for 99 Speed Mart as we expand beyond our traditional product offerings to bring trusted home appliance solutions to customers across Malaysia.

“As the country’s largest mini market chain, we are always looking for ways to better serve the everyday needs of Malaysians, and this collaboration allows us to offer greater convenience by making quality home appliances more accessible through our nationwide network,” he said.

The collaboration also supports Midea’s wider regional ambitions under its “Power of One” strategy, unveiled during the company’s Asia Pacific Dealer Conference in Bali last year. The strategy integrates product innovation, retail expansion and customer experience to drive long-term growth across the region.

Midea said expanding its retail presence in Malaysia is a key step towards achieving the sales targets outlined under the initiative while responding to growing consumer demand for smart, energy-efficient and sustainable home appliances.

From August 2026, selected Midea small home appliances will be available at 99 Speed Mart outlets nationwide. The initial product range includes blenders, electric kettles, rice cookers, fans, toasters, toaster ovens, vacuum cleaners and stoves.
