Migos rapper Quavo shares joy after confirming birth of baby daughter

US rapper Quavo has confirmed the birth of his first child, a baby daughter.

On Tuesday, the 35-year-old Migos star offered followers a brief glimpse of his daughter inside a short video shared on Instagram promoting his forthcoming solo album, Qromelife.

Appearing on Complex’s Idea Generation podcast, Quavo said: "It’s a blessing that God gave me. It’s just a whole (new) state.

"It brings joy to me. It brings a new light. It brings a new reason why I’m doing this. It brings a new hunger, a new fire to me.

"I’m just proud to be a father now, ‘cause we used to always talk about that. So, I’m just happy."

The musician, whose real name is Quavious Marshall, described seeing his daughter smile and hearing her call him dad as the greatest joys of fatherhood.

He added: "To see my family love her just like me, it’s just beautiful."

Quavo rose to prominence as part of hip-hop trio Migos, alongside fellow rapper Offset and his late nephew, Takeoff.

After initial success with their 2013 breakthrough track Versace, which gained huge popularity via a Drake remix, the rap group achieved even greater acclaim with Bad And Boujee, earning a nomination for a prestigious Grammy award.

His debut album, Quavo Huncho, arrived in 2018, with his follow-up record, Rocket Power, emerging in 2023.

In recent years, Quavo has advocated against gun violence following the death of Takeoff, who was shot dead in 2022.

“We need to do better with the control of guns,” Quavo said in 2023. “We need to figure out how do we keep these types of incidents from happening to people going anywhere and thinking they can hurt somebody where it shouldn’t happen.”

After Takeoff's shooting, Quavo often asked himself “How do we use (guns) safely?

“And how do you keep them out of the hands of people that make bad decisions?” he said. “I'm kind of in a half-and-half place. Even police have guns. Unfortunately, some of the people in our culture and loved ones have been lost to police brutality. It's all about choices and how we can put a filter on who can use these guns.”
