MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at prioritizing the health and well-being of migrant workers.
The MOU was signed during the 2026 Migrant Workers' Health Summit held in Quezon City on Tuesday.
During the summit, Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said it is important that health services remain accessible and responsive throughout the entire migration cycle—from pre-departure to overseas deployment and eventual return to the Philippines.
“This reflects our shared commitment to improve coordination, strengthen our service deliveries, and ensure that the health and well-being of Filipino migrant workers remain a national priority,” said Herbosa, highlighting the necessity of the collaboration.
The 2-day summit provides free medical services for migrant workers, including hypertension, diabetes, and nutrition assessments; cancer screening; and tuberculosis and HIV testing.
