GILAS Pilipinas got the much needed shot in the arm as Filipino American Quentin Millora-Brown is set to play for the national team, which is preparing for the second window of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) officially announced Millora-Brown’s upcoming stint for the national men’s basketball team via its Facebook page on Thursday.

“After direct conversations with Quentin Millora-Brown and his family, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announces that he is en route to Manila from Japan,” the SBP wrote in its statement.

“The SBP appreciates his continued commitment to the program. He’s ready to suit up for Gilas and is going to be an integral part of the current and future of the national team.”

The 25-year-old Millora-Brown’s entry changed the narrative for Gilas Pilipinas, considering that just last Monday, after the national team’s first practice, coach Tim Cone stated that the former one-and-done University of the Philippines big man “chose not to play” in the second window.

But all that is about to change for Millora-Brown, who had solid debut in a Gilas Pilipinas uniform during the Philippines’ two-game sweep of Guam in Window 1 late last year.

The 6-foot-10 Fil-American averaged 7.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 19.7 minutes against Guam.

Millora-Brown’s presence adds size to the Philippine team, which will not have the services of 7-foot-3 Kai Sotto but will continue to have PBA nine-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo and AJ Edu, both 6 feet 10, at the front court.

Also added into the training pool just last Monday was Converge 6-foot-8 center Justine Baltazar.

The Philippines will have its hands full against New Zealand on Feb. 26 and Australia on March 1, with both games scheduled to be played at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Philippines bowed to New Zealand and Australia in their most recent face-offs in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
