
MANILA, Philippines — The death toll in the 7.8 magnitude Mindanao earthquake has now climbed to 78, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday.
In its June 18, 2026 situational report, the agency said the missing remained at 30, with the injured at 1,339.
A breakdown of the dead showed that 21 were from Region 11 with 13 missing; 57 were from Region 12 with 17 missing.
The quake has now affected 357,000 families or 1.5 million persons. Over 5,000 families are currently sheltered in evacuation centers or at least 21,000 persons.
So far, there were 13,700 totally damaged houses while 61,000 were partially damaged.
The latest report also showed that 774 infrastructure were damaged with an estimated cost of P1.9 billion.
Meanwhile, the cost of damage to agriculture is now at P29.8 million mostly in Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur.
As of posting time, 14 municipalities in Davao Occidental, Sarangani and South Cotabato have been put under a state of calamity.
The government has now provided P176.8 million worth of assistance to affected families and about P8.1 million to affected local government units and municipalities.
