MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said that Udalo Bridge, a major infrastructure project expected to transform travel and connectivity between Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, will be finished soon.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon who inspected the project over the weekend, said the bridge in Barangay Udalo, Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro is 94 percent complete.
The bridge has been partially opened to light vehicles. It will be opened to all types of vehicles on July 15.
"The partial opening is expected to significantly improve mobility and safety in the area," Dizon said.
The 115-meter bridge forms part of the Abra de Ilog–Puerto Galera Road and serves as the final bridge that will complete the northern route connecting the two provinces.
Once the bridge is fully operational, motorists will no longer need to cross the riverbed, significantly improving safety and ensuring uninterrupted travel.
