Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar (pic) welcomes joint enforcement action by authorities over illegal frozen chicken imports in the State.
Jamawi said the move aligns with directions he issued during an inspection at Sepanggar Port on July 19.
He stressed that the Ministry views the matter seriously and will extend full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Border Control and Protection Agency, and Department of Veterinary Services.
His statement follows the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of 10 containers of frozen chicken from China during MACC's 'Ops Chick' at a Sabah port on Tuesday.
Jamawi advised all food importers to comply with established procedures and obtain valid import permits through proper channels.
