THE role of a police officer goes beyond that of a profession and constitutes a solemn responsibility to the nation, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in conjunction with the 219th Police Day celebrations.

Paying tribute to the Royal Malaysia Police, he commended its personnel for their constant readiness to serve at any time and under any circumstances in safeguarding peace and national security.

“Today, we celebrate an institution that has stood steadfast in safeguarding the nation for over two centuries — the PDRM.

“I extend my deepest appreciation and gratitude to all officers for your dedication and sacrifices, which are always valued and remembered,” he said in a Facebook post, while extending Police Day greetings.

Saifuddin expressed hope that the police force would continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, remaining an institution that maintains close ties with the public.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil also conveyed his appreciation, acknowledging the continued efforts and sacrifices of police personnel in maintaining national stability.

“Thank you for your dedication and sacrifices in maintaining the nation’s peace and security. May you remain steadfast, resilient, and perform your duties with unwavering integrity, trust, and responsibility. Happy Police Day!” he wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh also extended her greetings in conjunction with the 219th Police Day, joining fellow Cabinet members in recognising the contributions of the nation’s police force.

In a post on the PDRM’s official Facebook page, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail extended his greetings in conjunction with Police Day.

Mohd Khalid said the Royal Malaysia Police has been described as a steadfast pillar in safeguarding Malaysia’s security and stability, as the force commemorates its 219th Police Day.

The institution’s long history, spanning more than two centuries, is built upon sacrifices and dedication made by generations of officers who have served the nation.

He noted that behind the blue uniform are countless untold stories of courage and selflessness, with officers consistently placing national duty above personal interest.

Mohd Khalid said the police force continues to evolve through resilience, professional expertise and the adoption of modern policing methods and technology, enabling it to respond effectively to contemporary security challenges while safeguarding national sovereignty.

“We, the Sang Saka Biru, will continue to stand firm, faithfully carrying out our duty, never fearful and never retreating in preserving the peace and harmony of the people,” he said in a post on the PDRM’s official Facebook page, extending greetings in conjunction with Police Day.

He also emphasised that public confidence and support remain central to the strength of the force, describing it as vital in ensuring Malaysia remains peaceful, stable and prosperous.

In the same message, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, PERKEP Malaysia chairman Datin Seri Datuk Dr Munirah Che Rose, and vice-chairman Datuk Zalena Mohd Ariffin also conveyed their appreciation to all personnel in conjunction with the Police Day celebrations. - March 25, 2026
