
The 219th Police Day was marked nationwide with tributes to the Royal Malaysia Police for over two centuries of service and sacrifice in safeguarding national security.
KUALA LUMPUR: The 219th Police Day was celebrated nationwide today in a spirit of respect and patriotism.
The events honoured the service and sacrifices of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in protecting the nation’s security and sovereignty for over two centuries.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended the main celebration at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL). He launched the MESRA PDRM Book, a crime awareness module for children and adolescents.
Senior government and police officials were also present at the capital’s event. They included Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.
In Selangor, about 200 people were honoured at a celebration in Kapar. North Klang police chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao presented certificates of appreciation to 50 recipients for their cooperation with police duties.
The Negeri Sembilan celebration saw state deputy police chief SAC Mohd Nasharudin Mohd Shariff officiate. He presented certificates to 17 individuals from NGOs, the public and media for their contributions.
Pahang’s event at the PDRM Logistics Complex in Kuantan was attended by state police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman. Appreciation letters were presented to 22 police personnel, officers and members of the public.
In Terengganu, 43 recipients received certificates for excellent service at the state contingent headquarters. The celebration featured poetry recitals and a war dance performance.
Perlis held its celebration at the state police headquarters in Kangar. State deputy police chief SAC Zaihairul Idrus presented letters of appreciation to 48 recipients, including strategic partners and retired personnel.
Penang’s event was held at the Marine Police Force Region 1 headquarters in Batu Uban. State deputy police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin presented letters to 14 strategic partners and 17 police family association members.
The Sarawak-level celebration was officiated by Deputy Police Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak. Officers, personnel and members of the public received appreciation letters followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
