The Kapurthala police have registered a criminal case after a woman alleged that her minor daughter was lured away from home by a youth on the pretext of marriage.
The complainant, Ramawati, resident of New Sabzi Mandi, stated that her minor daughter, had gone missing from their residence since April 19.
The complainant said she had gone to work on the day of the incident while her daughter remained at home. However, upon returning later in the day, she found that the girl was not present in the house. The family began searching for her and making enquiries in the locality.
During the course of the search, the complainant alleged that a youth Satyam had taken away the minor girl after promising to marry her.
The police registered a case under Sections 137(2) and 96 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to kidnapping and inducement of a minor girl.
