
A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was killed while five other passengers travelling in a car were injured after the car overturned on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Saturday in Nuh district. The accident is believed to have occurred as the driver dozed off.
The deceased was identified as Dipika while the injured were identified as Nishant Gupta, Sakshi Agarwal, Yuvan, Prashant and Avneeti.
According to the police, a family was returning home to Delhi from Mumbai. Six family members were in the car. As the car crossed the Ujina cut and reached the Jaisinghpur Chowki area around 7 am on Saturday, the driver suddenly dozed off and lost control of the vehicle and the speeding car overturned several times before falling off the highway. The car was heavily damaged. The injured were admitted to a private hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
With the help of the police and locals, the injured were pulled out of the car. The police took the custody of the girl’s body and sent it to Nalhar Medical College for the post-mortem examination. “We have seized the crashed car and are investigating the case. The body of deceased has been handed over to kin,” said a senior police official.
