Miracle rescue as two men pulled from Nepal tunnel after nine days underground

  • Two workers have been miraculously rescued alive from a hydropower station tunnel in Nepal nine days after a catastrophic ice, rock and mud slide.
  • Mechanical foreman Sanjay Sah and mechanical supervisor Kabir Maharjan were saved from the Upper Trishuli 3A Hydropower Station.
  • The 26 August glacier collapse killed more than 1,200 people and is believed to have trapped around 900 people in tunnels across six hydropower projects.
  • Sah suffered non-critical injuries, while Maharjan currently cannot move his limbs; both men are being transferred to a hospital in Kathmandu.
  • Family members expressed immense relief and joy after learning of the survival and rescue of their loved ones.
