Police in Miri seized over RM630,000 worth of MDMA and arrested a 33-year-old man in raids targeting a suspected drug syndicate.

KUCHING: Police arrested a 33-year-old man and seized drugs worth more than RM630,000 in two separate raids in Miri on April 5.

Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the first raid was conducted in Desa Murni, Bandar Baru Permyjaya, leading to the arrest of the suspect and seizure of drugs believed to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) weighing an estimated 150 grammes.

He said the second raid was carried out based on information obtained from the suspect, which led police to a house in Lorong Murni, Desa Murni.

“In the raid, police seized drugs believed to be MDMA weighing an estimated 3.37 kilogrammes.

“The total seizure is estimated to be worth RM634,687.50 and is believed to be capable of affecting about 4,010 individuals,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Farhan said the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and police are actively tracking down syndicate members still at large to ensure the network is completely dismantled.
