Mirra Andreeva advances to the fourth round at the Italian Open after a victory over Viktorija Golubic
Mirra Andreeva is through to the fourth round of the Italian Open after a tough win against Viktorija Golubic.
She came out on top with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 win in Rome and will now face Elise Mertens in the next round. Andreeva had a bye in the first round before easing past Antonia Ruzic 6-1, 6-0 in her tournament opener.
Andreeva started the match well, taking control early and winning two sets comfortably, but lost focus in between.
Golubic broke twice and took advantage of an unusually high number of unforced errors from Andreeva, levelling things up before fading away in the decider.
Now into the fourth round at just seventeen years old, Andreeva has already achieved one notable feat at this stage. By reaching this level for a sixth time at a WTA event, she’s matched Maria Sharapova’s record for most such appearances before turning eighteen.

Andreeva Reaches 50th WTA 1000 Win
Still just 19 years old, Andreeva has already reached the milestone of 50 wins in WTA 1000 tournaments, a remarkable achievement so early in her career.
Her rise began to gather real pace during the 2025 season when she started turning potential into results at this level.
At just 17, she made headlines by winning consecutive titles in Dubai and Indian Wells, becoming the youngest champion since the WTA adopted the current format in 2009.
This year on clay, Andreeva has put together a strong run of form, holding a record of 14-2 heading into her next match. Her consistency on the surface has been noticeable.
She won Linz and reached the semifinals in Stuttgart before making it to another final appearance in Madrid. It’s been a steady climb without many setbacks so far this season.
Mirra Andreeva’s Rapid Climb Up the WTA Rankings
Still just a teenager, Mirra Andreeva has already put together a remarkable resume that’s raised expectations for her at every major event.
Though she’s handled that pressure well for someone so early in their career, it’s important to remember there are still plenty of lessons ahead. Patience will be key for those following her progress.
There have been suggestions that she needs to better manage her emotions on court, but given how far she’s come already, there’s little doubt she’s on the right path.
Andreeva has reached as high as No. 5 in the WTA rankings and currently sits seventh heading into the Italian Open.
A win in Rome would mark her third title of 2026 and the sixth overall in what promises to be a very exciting career.
