Kota Kinabalu: A 38-year-old man was fined RM3,500 or 13 months’ jail on Wednesday for splashing pink paint on a man’s house in Likas, two months ago.
Saha Seman pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing mischief by doing so to the fence of the complainant’s house causing RM25 loss at 4.50pm on June 26 at Kg Likas Cenderamata 2.
The court was informed by the prosecution that the complainant lodged a police report after he found the fence at his house splashed with pink paint and also a note with his name and MyKad number asking him to pay his debt.
The complainant in his report admitted that he had taken out a loan at a money lender company but had finished paying it in 2020, said the prosecution.

The complainant lodged a police report as he felt disturbed and worried about his and his family’s safety, leading to Saha’s arrest on July 3.
Saha was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of between one year and five years and a fine, or both, if convicted.
Unrepresented, Saha requested leniency, while the prosecution applied for an adequate sentence.
In another case, an Indonesian mechanic was sentenced to 20 months’ jail for using someone else’s MyKad as his identification document.
Thomas Tandi Liling, 34, admitted to having the document belonging to Tomas Ceaser Wong at 12.55am on Aug 11 at Jalan Pulutan, Manggatal.
According to the prosecution, Thomas produced the MyKad as his identification document to the police, who screened and detained him at the scene.
The police, however, found the picture shown in the MyKad was not the same as Thomas’s face and that the owner of the MyKad had lodged a police report regarding the missing of his identification document.
Thomas confessed to having found the MyKad and used it as his identification document as he did not have one.
Thomas, who was not represented, requested a jail term from the date of his arrest and told the court that he is from Indonesia and came to Sabah in childhood.
The prosecution applied for an adequate sentence.
The court ordered Thomas to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest and be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.
Thomas was charged under Section 25(1)(o) of the National Registration Regulation, which provides for a jail term of up to three years or fine, on conviction.
Meanwhile, a man claimed trial to assaulting another man.
Md Fizu Omar was accused of committing the offence at 3.30pm on July 13 at a house in Lok Kawi.
The charge is framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
The prosecution proposed bail at RM3,000 in two sureties but the accused, who was not represented, applied for a lower bail.
The court set Sept 22 for case management and released Fizu on a bail of RM1,000 in two sureties with a condition not to tamper with the complainant.
