KENINGAU: The missing Sabah Electricity staff member had yet to be found on the second day of a search and rescue (SAR) operation here on Wednesday, said the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

The victim, identified as 35-year-old Masedeh Rosmin, was swept away while attempting to cross a bridge at Kampung Nuntunan, Apin-Apin, on Tuesday night with two colleagues who managed to save themselves.

Rescuers from JBPM, police, and the Civil Defence Force scoured a 40-kilometre stretch along Sungai Pagalan covering Kampung Banjar, Kampung Mempikit and Kampung Rimbayan.

Witnesses had earlier reported seeing the victim twice during the early hours of Wednesday, first near Sungai Kepayan and later in Sungai Baginda, but the strong current hindered rescue attempts.

The operation was suspended at 5pm on Wednesday and will resume tomorrow (Thursday), with the control post shifted to Kampung Kaladakan to coordinate further searches.
