KOKTA KINABALU: Worker safety remains a top priority for Sabah Electricity staff carrying out field operations, with strict precautions taken to follow industry standards and reduce risks during restoration work.

The Sabah Electricity Engineers Union (KJJ) and Workers Union (KPP) expressed deep regret over the incident in which a technical staff member was swept away by strong currents while on duty in Keningau.

KJJ president Christina Chin conveyed condolences to the victim’s family and said the union would work with KPP and Sabah Electricity’s management to ensure welfare and support for the bereaved.

KPP president Asle Abdulli urged the public to appreciate the sacrifices made by technical teams, stressing that their tasks often involve unforeseen dangers while working to maintain stable electricity supply.

The victim, identified as Masedeh Rosmin in his 30s, was swept away when his four-wheel-drive was crossing a small bridge at Sungai Nuntunan in Apin-Apin late Tuesday night, while two colleagues travelling with him were rescued.
