Mitchell Robinson has added a playful twist to Donald Trump’s expected appearance at Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

The New York Knicks are already heading into one of their biggest home games in decades. Trump’s planned attendance only adds more spotlight to a night that was never going to feel normal.

Robinson saw the joke being made online and leaned into it, turning a viral Allen Iverson comparison into extra fuel before the series reaches New York.

Mitchell Robinson reacts to Allen Iverson joke before Donald Trump attends New York Knicks game

Legion Hoops shared Mitchell Robinson’s response after a TikTok claimed he would play like a young Allen Iverson against Michael Jordan with Donald Trump attending Game 3 at Madison Square Garden.

“You ain’t lying, brother,” Robinson wrote.

The reference was to Iverson’s iconic 1997 crossover on Jordan, one of the most famous confidence moments in NBA history. The joke suggested Robinson would suddenly move with that same fearlessness because Trump would be in the building.

Robinson is obviously not a guard like Iverson, which made the comparison funnier. His game is built on size, rim protection, rebounding, and finishing, not breaking defenders down from the top of the floor.

Donald Trump Game 3 spotlight gives Mitchell Robinson extra New York Knicks motivation

Trump is expected to attend Game 3 between the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden after being invited by James Dolan. The visit is set to bring major security, massive attention, and an even louder atmosphere.

For Robinson, that kind of stage can only sharpen the mood. He has already been playing through a hand injury during the Finals, giving New York important backup-center minutes behind Karl-Anthony Towns.

The motivation is simple. Game 3 is the Knicks’ first home Finals game in 27 years, and every role player knows one big play could become part of Garden history.

Robinson may not be crossing anyone over like Iverson, but if he blocks a shot, grabs a huge rebound, or finishes through contact in front of Trump, the joke will have done its job.
