MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday reviewed measures to ease traffic during the installation of the MRT-7 Turnback Steel Box Girder along North EDSA to West Avenue.

VPS Steel Structure Corp. presented its traffic management plan to MMDA Chairman Don Artes, detailing schedules for the steel girder launching from February to March 2026 and the construction and removal of support towers by April 2026. A girder is a large steel beam that will support the elevated railway, essentially forming the backbone of the MRT-7 track.

The plan includes zipper lanes, traffic barriers, and designated stockyards for construction materials to keep vehicle flow steady during the project. Traffic advisories were also prepared for routes to Balintawak and Cubao, with suggested alternatives for motorists.

Artes said minimizing disruption to commuters and ensuring continuous traffic flow remained the agency’s top priorities while construction was ongoing.

Officials from the Department of Transportation, San Miguel Corporation, and other MMDA offices attended the meeting at the MMDA head office in Pasig City.
