
A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Hualien district in Taiwan on Thursday evening, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The tremor occurred at 8.14pm local time, China’s official news agency Xinhua reported.
According to the monitoring centre, the epicentre was located at 23.78 degrees north latitude and 121.55 degrees east longitude.
CENC said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 19 kilometres beneath the surface. - March 13, 2026
