
A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck southern Sumatra, Indonesia, with no tsunami threat to Malaysia, according to MetMalaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 was detected in southern Sumatra, Indonesia at 2.02 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a Facebook post, said the earthquake was centred at coordinates 0.8 degrees south and 98.3 degrees east, at a depth of 44 kilometres (km), 102 km northwest of Siberut, Indonesia.
However, there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
