Mohamad Zainal Abdullah appointed PDRM Management Director, succeeding Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, who takes over as Deputy Inspector-General of Police
KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah has been appointed Management Director of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), effective today.
He succeeds Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, who has been appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
The handing over of duties and the pinning of ranks was witnessed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here.
Mohamad Zainal, 48, who has served as Sarawak Police Commissioner since September last year, is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Programme and has an extensive academic background, including a Master of Laws from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
He previously served as Deputy Director (Investigation/Legal) of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Principal Assistant Director of CID D5 (Prosecution/Law) at Bukit Aman, as well as Dang Wangi and Perak Tengah Police Chief.
At the event, Abdul Aziz, 59, formally assumed the country’s second-highest police post from Acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus, following his appointment which took effect on Sept 9.
The ceremony also saw the handover of duties for the post of Bukit Aman Police Secretary to Selangor Internal Security and Public Order Department chief SAC Mohammad Mashdik Yahya, who will assume the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in an acting capacity effective Oct 12.
The event included the pinning of ranks on 25 senior PDRM officers following their promotions.
