Molly-Mae Hague says she’s having postpartum ‘identity crisis’ and looks like ‘different person’

Molly-Mae Hague has spoken about struggling with her identity after becoming a mother for the second time.

The influencer, 27, gave birth to son Midas in June. It’s her second child with fiancé Tommy Fury, whom she met on Love Island in 2019, after they welcomed their daughter Bambi in January 2023.

In her latest YouTube vlog, Hague said she believes hormonal changes may be responsible for her hair’s roots growing back darker.

“I have never known my hair to grow back as dark as it grows back these days, and I think it must be to do with pregnancy, to do with hormones, but you guys like that have watched me for years, you know that even when I get roots, it doesn't go this dark,” she said in the video.

“I think this is insane that my hair is now this dark when it grows back. I’ve always been a blonde, and I’ve never ever struggled with my roots as much as I do now. And I think it must be from having children...”

She continued: “I’m going for my hair appointment this afternoon, and I just, honestly, I'm so at an identity crisis right now.

“I don’t know who I am, what I want to be, or anything. Like, why is my hair so dark? Why is like I look literally like a different person right now.

“I look like a complete brunette, and I just don’t think I am a brunette.”

As well as an “identity crisis”, Hague has been experiencing “baby brain” after welcoming Midas.

Speaking directly to the camera from her bedroom while wearing pyjamas and no make-up in a video last month, she explained: “All I can say is, my brain is absolutely not working properly.

“I remember this from my post-partum journey with Bambi. For me, baby brain through pregnancy does not even compare to baby brain once you give birth.

“When I am tired, as you will be able to see in this video, when I am tired, I am a different person.

“I talk differently; I can’t string a sentence together. I just keep saying, ‘Um, um, um’ because I can’t like get my words out quickly enough.

“It doesn’t flow, basically… that is why I am a woman that needs my sleep.

“That is why I am already working as hard as I can to get my boy into a routine because I need this little boy to be the same kind of sleeper that Bambi has been for us.

“That comes with work, patience, perseverance and for us, a really, really solid routine.”

According to Patient.info, baby brain “refers to the occasional forgetfulness some women experience when they’re expecting”.

Despite the challenges since having Midas, Hague said having a second child has “healed so many of my newborn fears”.

In June, the TV personality took to her Instagram Stories to share an adorable shot of her newborn sleeping, with the caption: “Thank you for healing so many of my newborn fears, little one.
