When It Is Not Prioritized, It Will Not Be Completed.
This is the 10th week of my Monday’s with Job series, one practical productivity insight every Monday to help you work better, stay focused, and finish stronger.
This past week, I was reminded of a simple truth: When something is not prioritized, it often does not get completed.
I had several important tasks I wanted to finish last week, but urgent requests and small interruptions took up my time.
By Monday, the unfinished tasks were still waiting for me, and I realized I should have given them a higher priority.
The lesson I learned and which I am sharing with you.
1. Productivity is not about doing more. It is about completing what you committed to complete. In order to progress, we need to be able to complete the things that we said we will complete otherwise it continues to pile up.
2. Delays can delay opportunities. Not because we are incapable, but because important tasks compete with less important ones. Remember opportunities doesn't wait for anyone therefore we need be prepared and ready when the opportunity comes.
3. We must be accountable for how we allocate our time. That's how we grow in managing time. If we don't finish something, we need to remind ourselves of the consequence and the impact of it.
What I’m changing this week
1. Create a 1–10 priority list (from most urgent & important to least urgent & important). Set reminders on my phone for it.
2. Divide the list across each day with specific time allocations.
3. If something new comes up, I will replace “I’ll do it when I have time” with “I’ve already scheduled time for it.”
