
Kota Kinabalu: Team Monggolutons made a clean sweep in the in-house Mimpaagat Cup 2024 football tournament, which concluded after eight months of competition at the Penampang Stadium on Friday.
The 40s category which ended last October saw the team led by Bryan Bai crowned champions with 19 points followed by Nikki Stephen’s Tompulingots with 15 points and Jayvan Binsos’ Tompoipits in third place.
Monggolutons’s striker Tawa Rahim was also the tournament top scorer with 12 goals.
In the 50s category, Monggolutons captured the title with 34 points, only one point ahead of second placed Pebe Antahar’s Kondius followed by Roy Kadayum’s Tompoipit in third place with 29 points.
Monggolutons also won the 59s category with 13 points and in second place was Hamdan Suarah’s Bolitotoks with 10 points, and in third was David Motijal’s Bobohizans with 9 points.
Organising chairman Victor Disimon said the most senior category also featured Jimmy Totu, Ernest Mah and Abu Kassim, who are well into their 70s and their participation inline with their motto – health, friendship and happiness.
He also gave away some of the prizes together with club chairman Aloysius Wong, club advisor Datuk Robert Stidi and club patron Sylvester Chin.
Meanwhile, the next in-house Mimpaagat Cup will kick-off in June this year and those who qualify for the various age groups are invited to join the club.
