Monitoring education needs of e-Kasih children in Kudat, Kota Marudu and Kota Belud

Kota Kinabalu: Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, chaired a meeting on the implementation of the Ehsan @ Kuskop initiative to ensure its smooth execution throughout the implementation period.

The Ehsan @ Kuskop initiative is a programme aimed at empowering education for children of families registered under e-Kasih through corporate social contributions from Bank Rakyat, managed by Yayasan Bank Rakyat.

Advertisement (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});A total of RM3 million has been allocated for the initiative, which will be piloted in three northern parliamentary constituencies in Sabah, namely Kudat, Kota Marudu, and Kota Belud, which has a high number of e-Kasih registrations.

According to Ewon, the initiative includes targeted assistance for transportation, rural hostel/transit accommodations, school supplies, initial education funding, tuition, and education seminars.

“Every time I attend Cabinet meetings or Parliamentary sessions, and when the poorest districts in Sabah are mentioned, I have resolved to be part of the solution without pointing fingers at why poverty remains high in Sabah.

The programme was launched on Dec 30, last year ,by the Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, during the Madani Kuskop Community Outreach event at Kadamaian Square, Kota Belud.

Also present were Kudat Member of Parliament, Datuk Verdon Bahanda, Sabah State Development Office Director, Samsul Dollah, Yayasan Bank Rakyat Chairman, Datuk Philip Lasimbang, and Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat Chief Coordinator Officer Datuk Rosmadi Datu Sulai.

District officers and district education office representatives from the three parliamentary constituencies also attended the meeting.
