
Kota Kinabalu: The public are urged to support the Montfort Charity Golf Tournament 2025 scheduled to tee off at 7am at the Sabah Golf and Country Club on October 11.
The annual fundraising event organised by Montfort Youth Training Centre (MYTC) is held to support Montfort’s mission of providing education and vocational training to underprivileged youth and youth at-risk in Sabah.
The tournament to be played in stableford format based on the lowest handicap is open to amateur golfers with valid insurance.
Organising chairman Datuk Willie Wong said in a press conference on Friday that apart from prizes for winners in all the categories as well as novelty prizes, there are also other attractive prizes and giveaways including Hole-in One prizes in a brand-new Proton EV E’Mas sponsored by Fook Loi Eurocar Sdn Bhd) and RM20,000 cash sponsored by Muhibbah Dua (M) Sdn Bhd, as well as lucky draws prizes including a 65” Smart TV sponsored by him.
“This charity tournament is not just about golf, it is also aabout giving hope and opportunities to the youth we serve.
“Every swing, every putt and every contribution will go a long way in supporting Montfort’s mission.
“All proceeds from this tournament will directly benefit Montfort Youth Training Centre in our continuing efforts to nurture, educate and empower Sabah’s disadvantaged youth.
“What we are doing is to give these boys a second chance. They are mostly from the rural areas and normally not good in their studies, but they can be very skilful in other fields and we need a lot of funds to train and accommodate them,” he said He also expressed his gratitude to the organising committee for their hard work and all the sponsors for their support.
Also present on Friday were deputy organising chairman Datuk Johnny Wong, committee members Datuk Kamal D E Quadra, Paul Ong and MYTC director Frederick Mah.
Meanwhile, the registration fee for the charity event is set at RM1,000 per player or RM4,000 per flight of four.
