The body of a 22-year-old woman, missing for three days, was found decomposed in the bathroom of a rented room belonging to her husband’s live-in partner in the Manesar area.

The woman’s family has accused her husband, Ankit Bhagat, and his live-in partner of the murder, as both suspects fled the scene.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Madhu, a native of Umrain village in Alwar district, Rajasthan.

Madhu married Ankit Bhagat, a resident of Manesar village, on February 19 this year. Ankit was unemployed and worked in agriculture. Everything was fine after the wedding, but on May 21, Madhu suddenly disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Madhu’s father, Ashok, alleged that on May 21, Ankit and his family visited their house and told them a false story, claiming Madhu had absconded with the jewellery.

When they went to file a police report, Ankit suddenly disappeared on May 22. Now that the body has been found, it has been revealed that Madhu was brutally murdered. After the murder, to dispose of the body, the accused locked her in the bathroom of his live-in partner and fled.

During the investigation, neighbours revealed they saw Madhu leaving on a scooter with Ankit on May 21. This clue led the police and her parents to suspect Ankit.

A background check revealed that Ankit had rented a room near the Manesar bus stand two years ago, where he was living in a live-in relationship with another woman.

When a police team reached the rented room on Sunday afternoon, the room was locked from the outside. As soon as the police broke down the door, the scene inside stunned the police team. A strong stench permeated the room. When the police moved toward the bathroom inside, Madhu’s decomposed body was found there.

According to sources, people living nearby saw Ankit and his live-in-partner woman fleeing the room in a panic on the night of May 22. It is suspected that Ankit committed the crime on the night of May 21.

Police handed over the body to relatives today after a post-mortem examination but the exact time and cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem report is received.

“The parents of the deceased woman filed a complaint with the police, accusing her husband, Ankit, and his live-in partner of murder. The accused are currently absconding. Police teams are conducting raids to nab the accused,” said Virender Kumar, ACP, Manesar.
