On the birth anniversary of slain Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh, alias Sidhu Moosewala, his father Balkaur Singh today alleged that his family was facing increasing pressure and security concerns. He claimed that attempts were being made to target their property and said the situation was getting out of control.
“The kind of pressure and injustice we are facing now is unlike anything before. Now, even our property is being targeted and I believe this is being done with the backing of the government. I might have to make an appeal to my son’s followers in the coming days to join a protest, something I have never done before. Our family’s safety is under threat and I will share more details through social media in coming days, if situation arises,” he said.
He claimed that the people identifying themselves as gangsters try to speak with him, saying they were planning to kill terrorist Satinderjit Singh, alias Goldy Brar, accused of masterminding his son’s murder. In the same breath, Balkaur said he did not support taking anyone’s life.
“Such killings serve no purpose. Will my son come back if someone else is killed? I urge gangsters to stop this violence. No other mother should lose her son. Every murder leaves a family shattered. Let my son be the last victim of such bloodshed,” said Balkaur, while speaking to the media at his residence in Moosa village.
A large number of fans from Punjab and other states gathered at Moosewala’s residence to pay tribute to the late singer.
