Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government plans to manage its own tourism, instead of leaving it to the Federal Ministry.
Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said the State’s tourism is now under the federal list and the State Government wants to take back the power. The State Government has started a discussion on the matter.
“I have discussed the matter with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and he is positive about it as we want to manage our own tourism matters,” he said during a briefing on Asean homestay and Asean community-based tourism standards hosted by the Sabah Tourism Board (STB), here.
