Another World Cup in-match interruption due to weather is feared in the Group F finale between Tunisia and the Netherlands in Kansas City later on Thursday.
The France v Iraq game was held up during the match for over 2 hours on Monday because of US rules about stadiums and thunderstorms.
A big delay in the Kansas City game could have knock-on effects for the Japan v Sweden clash in Arlington, Texas. The final Group F games are meant to kick off at the same time to avoid match manipulation. No side is yet through to the last 32.
US weather service NWS said strong storms were expected in the Kansas City area around kick-off. Mike Nicco, weather forecaster for local broadcaster KCTV5, told Dutch channel SBS 6 that the probability of a game suspension was 80% and that thunderstorms could last hours.
Around 25,000 Dutch supporters partied in the city before kick-off and the weather initially behaved before rain and thunder led to the fanfest being closed.
Six matches at last year's Club World Cup - also played in June and July in the United States - suffered varying delays because of thunderstorms.
