MANILA, Philippines —More Filipino workers are turning to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for fast assistance on wages, benefits, and workplace disputes, with Hotline 1349 handling more than 48,000 labor-related concerns in the first quarter of 2026 alone.
According to DOLE, the surge in inquiries showed the growing reliance of the public on the government’s labor assistance system as workers sought immediate help on delayed salaries, unpaid benefits, illegal practices, and employment concerns.
The hotline initiative, it said, supported President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s push to make government services more accessible, responsive, and people-centered.
From January to March 2026, Hotline 1349 received 46,526 assistance requests through voice calls, emails, and Facebook direct messages, generating a total of 48,381 labor-related queries nationwide.
Emails emerged as the most used platform with 23,024 inquiries or nearly half of all requests, followed by 14,505 voice calls and 8,997 Facebook messages.
DOLE noted that digital inquiries through email and Facebook reached 32,021, surpassing voice calls by more than 120 percent — a clear sign that workers now prefer faster, more convenient, and documented online communication channels.
Most concerns centered on labor standards, which accounted for 15,647 or 62 percent of all recorded queries.
