Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi believes his side have what it takes to go all the way at the World Cup after reaching the knockout stage.

"The players and the fans believe in it, and our opponents look at us differently," Ouahbi said after a hard-fought win over Haiti on Wednesday.

"We have all the ingredients to be the best nation. I believe in it, and the players believe in it," the 49-year-old added.

The African champions could face the Netherlands in the last 32 in Monterrey, Mexico, on Monday.

"I don't care who we play. We will be ready," Ouahbi said.

The Belgian-born coach spent many years working in Anderlecht's youth set-up and knows Dutch football well.

Morocco made history by reaching the semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup, eventually finishing fourth after a 2-1 defeat by Croatia.

Morocco underlined their dark-horse credentials by winning the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil this year, although the final against Senegal was awarded to them after being overshadowed by unrest.

They missed out on top spot in their World Cup group and finished second behind Brazil after a 4-2 win over Haiti.

Haiti twice took the lead, but Morocco responded each time before sealing victory.

"We knew Haiti had nothing to lose," captain Achraf Hakimi said. "But we showed great determination and came back twice. That gives us strength for the next games."
