Mosar rescues injured climber at Mount Kinabalu

RANAU: The Mount Kinabalu Search and Rescue Team (Mosar) aided a climber who injured his ankle on Monday.

Head of BBP Ranau Station, PPgB Ridwan Bin Mohd Taib said, the incident happened at Waras Hut, near Layang-layang, Mount Kinabalu at about 12.15pm.

“A call was received through the Station Line regarding this incident and nine members led by Operations Commander, PBK II (KUP) Norazly Mohd Nauth rushed to the location.

“Participating in the rescue operation was a Sabah Park employee, two Malim Gunung and a porter.

Read more “On arrival at the location 100 metres from the Mosar post, we found a 28-year-old male victim injured while descending Mount Kinabalu,” he said.

Ridwan said the Mosar team gave initial treatment and then brought the victim down to Timpohon Gate using a Robinson Stretcher.

“The victim was sent to the hospital using the EMRS machine to get further treatment. The operation ended at 5.38 pm,” he said.
